In the early morning hours company 19 was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries at Broad Street and Rockville Road. Chief 19 (J. Brooks) responded to the scene. While en route, CC911 advised that one vehicle was off the roadway in a ditch, with injuries of unknown extent. Chief 19 arrived on scene and confirmed the report, identifying two patients. Engine 19 and Engine 19 (Rescue/Engine 19, as applicable) responded and conducted vehicle stabilization and patient care for both patients until EMS arrived on scene. Broad Street was reduced to one lane of traffic during initial operations. Upon EMS arrival, the roadway was fully shut down to allow for patient care and transport. Company 19 personnel assisted EMS with loading both patients into the ambulances. Following patient transport, crews swept the roadway and assisted the towing company with removal of the vehicle from the ditch. Once the vehicle was removed and the scene was cleared, the roadway was reopened, and Company 19 returned to service, placing the unit back in available status.
